Hands up who has their Christmas Tree trimmed and their holiday decorating underway?, well I cannot wait to get started on mine. I love the holidays and am a total Christmaszilla when it comes to decking the halls !.
This week I had the absolute pleasure of creating with the gorgeous and nostalgic St Nicholas Collection from Graphic 45 and Petaloo International with my Xyron adhesives. I wanted to make a home decor piece that could be an heirloom as well as a fun piece of decor so I decided to make a 'Night Before Christmas' Diorama using a pop together dollhouse form from a local toy store that cost only €3 as well as a a battery operated sets of LED Lights that were €2 a pack.
THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Xyron Creative Station
Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker
Graphic 45 'St Nicholas Collection'
Graphic 45 Hampton Art St Nicholas 2 Stamps
StazOn Black Ink
Matt Mod Podge
Ranger Liquid Pearls
Pinecones and Berries
Coffee Stirring Sticks
How it's made
I took the dollhouse form and using black gesso I painted around the outside edges on all the pieces.
I measured, cut and inked the edges of all the pieces of paper for the roof and sides and using the Xyron Creative Station adhered them to the dollhouse.
I repeated the process for the inside of the house and assembled the components.
I trimmed down any of the internal tabs that would 'Stand Out' and using a silicone glue I filled in the gaps after assembly and when dry touched them up with more black paint.
I applied a coating of the Matt Mod Podge all over the house before decorating.
I added a light to the 'ceiling' of each room through the back of the house (this was a total after thought when i found the lights in a store). I glued the wires to the ceiling and when dry I painted them black so they would blend in with the ceiling.
For the beds i used some coffee stirring sticks glued together, painted black and added the 'bedding' by folding paper (See images in next batch)
I made Christmas Cards for the Fireplace Mantle and did a decoupage wreath and added stamped elements to various room in the house.
I handmade the fireplace and used Cinnamon sticks as fire logs.
The Christmas tree was a bottle washer that I sprayed green and wrapped lights around and put the wire through the back of the fireplace and then out through the back of house to a battery pack.
I wrapped presents, left cake and tea for Santa while Goldie has a snooze by the fire.
Little Sue is upstairs wrapping gifts in the bedroom !
The bedding is made by folding paper and inking the edges.
I used elements from the stack and tags to create more decor and to finish I used the Petaloo Flowers and Foam Berries to accentuate the Christmas messages.
